Five Long Years

Today marks the end of the fifth year that I’ve been posting drivel on the Internet.

It all started when some lady kept fretching in our emergency department and I had enough. I created a blog called WhiteCoat Rants, posted a little story about fretching, and since then, it has been a rollercoaster of a time.

I’ve made quite a few friends, probably a few enemies as well.

Your comments have made me laugh, made me roll my eyes, and best of all … have made me think. I’m a better person because of it.

To all of you who have stuck with me this long, I sincerely appreciate your readership.

Hope the next five years are as good for you as the past five years have been for me.

  1. I’m a longtime reader because I absolutely LOVE you posts/stories/rants. thanks for all the work that goes into maintaining the site. I love you “updates” and frequently find myself discussing them with my DrH. congrats!

  2. Thanks, WhiteCoat, for posting regularly. I really enjoy reading your stuff. It’s taught me a lot about life in the ED, and just life in general.
The picture of the candles makes this post especially cool, too.

  3. I harbor secret hopes that someday Hollywood will discover you and make “White Coat: The Movie”. If they agree to cast you in the starring role I’ll be first to stand in line for tickets. If they cast George Clooney instead I’ll just get the tickets on Fandango.

Until that day, I will continue to visit regularly and admire your little island of sanity in an insane world. Happy fifth blogbirthday, and keep on writing.

  4. Congrats! You were my only link back to the medical world while completing my PhD, and somehow you didn’t scare me away from finishing my final two clinical years! But seriously, thanks for the always entertaining look into the ED.

  5. Congrats! This is one of my favorite medical blogs to read and I especially enjoy reading your crazy ER patient stories and rants. I hope you have another 5+ years for this blog =)

  6. Happy 5th blogiversary WC!

    I love your blog.

Thanks to ED doctor, Scalpel (where are you Scalpel?) for telling us (his readers) about your blog. he linked to one of your first stories, one of the funniest things I’ve ever read in medblogdom. I even passed it on to my urologist.

I believe it was July 2007 and ..wait..I know it …. … … Chinese Torture pager! Absolutely HILARIOUS! You should repost it for your new readers. It was based on a true story and I’m guessing every private doc tor can relate to it. Very funny. 🙂

I look forward to 5 more years of reading your posts. But then ..that’s it. That’s my cut off! 😉
